Cette année s'est tenu le
premier Challenge v.2
Beachcomber Hotels mettant en
compétition les deux ans issus
de la toute première Vente de
Yearlings v.2 qui avait eu lieu
à Deauville en août 2013. Au
terme de la saison, c'est le
pensionnaire de Gianluca
Bietolini Slew Of Fortune qui a
remporté haut la main le défi,
amassant 90 points. Evoluant
sous les couleurs de la Scuderia
Nuvolone, ce fils d'Elusive City
est demeuré invaincu en trois
sorties. Il a débuté au mois
d'août à Vichy en remportant une
course F puis s'est adjugé le
Prix de Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe,
une course D disputée en
septembre au Lion d’Angers avant
de s'imposer dans le Prix du Pin
au Haras (course B) le 23
octobre à Deauville. Il tentera
désormais de conserver son
invincibilité à Hong Kong. Ce
talentueux 2 ans avait été vendu
22.000€ par le Haras du Mâ à
Marco Bozzi (photo). Il offre à
ce dernier, ainsi qu'à son
propriétaire, deux séjours d'une
semaine sur l’Ile Maurice dans
l'un des luxueux hôtels du
groupe Beachcomber, partenaire
de la vente v.2.
Crédité de 60 points grâce à 3
victoires acquises à Bratislava,
la pouliche Dumnonia monte sur
la deuxième marche du podium.
Présentée en août 2013 par le
Haras d’Ellon, elle avait été
acquise pour 26.000€ par Chris
Richner.
Après avoir longtemps fait
illusion pour la victoire, Royal
Style se classe finalement
troisième du challenge avec 50
points. Vendu par le Haras des
Granges pour 18.000€ à Con
Marnane, le fils d'Astronomer
Royal a couru à neuf reprises
cette année sous la houlette de
Matthieu Palussière ; il s'est
notamment imposé en juin à La
Teste et s'est placé 3ème du
Prix des Jouvenceaux et des
Jouvencelles (L.).
L'an prochain, le Challenge v.2
Beachcomber Hotels sera
renouvelé aux mêmes conditions.
Les poulains acquis lors de
l'édition 2014 de la v.2
pourront ainsi se mesurer sur
les pistes européennes jusqu’au
27 novembre 2015.

Casablanca – SAR le Prince
Héritier Moulay El Hassan a
présidé, samedi à l’hippodrome
Casablanca-Anfa, la cérémonie de
remise du Grand Prix SM le Roi
Mohammed VI des courses de
chevaux disputé dans le cadre de
la 3e édition de la Journée
internationale du pur-sang
anglais, organisée par la
Société royale d’encouragement
du cheval (SOREC).
SAR le Prince Héritier Moulay El
Hassan a suivi depuis la tribune
d’honneur la course du Grand
Prix SM le Roi Mohammed VI, doté
d’un million de dirhams et
réservé aux chevaux pur sang
anglais âgés de 3 ans et plus.
Le Grand Prix SM le Roi Mohammed
VI des courses de chevaux a été
remporté par le cheval
Garrogorille, propriété du Haras
Royal les Sablons, monté par
Bouchaib Fakkar, qui a parcouru
l’épreuve (2400m) en 2min,
34sec, 72/100e.
La deuxième place est revenue à
Galbeston, propriété du Haras
Royal les Sablons, monté par
Gerard Rivas. Le cheval
Confidente, propriété de Trofe
Empresarial (Espagne) et monté
par Vaqlav Janacek complète le
podium.
A son arrivée à l’hippodrome
Casablanca-Anfa, SAR le Prince
Héritier Moulay El Hassan a
passé en revue un détachement de
la Garde Royale qui rendait les
honneurs avant d’être salué par
le ministre de l’agriculture et
de la pêche maritime, Aziz
Akhannouch, le wali de la région
du Grand Casablanca, gouverneur
de la préfecture de Casablanca,
Khalid Safir, le président du
Conseil régional, Mohamed Chafik
Benkirane, le gouverneur de la
préfecture des arrondissements
Casa-Anfa, Karim Kassi Lahlou.
SAR le Prince Héritier a
également été salué par le
président du Conseil communal de
Casablanca, Mohamed Sajid, le
président du Conseil préfectoral
de Casablanca, Mohamed Mansar,
le directeur général de la SOREC
Omar Skalli et par des membres
du conseil d’administration de
la SOREC.
A l’issue de cette manifestation
hippique, SAR le Prince Héritier
Moulay El Hassan a remis le
trophée du Grand Prix SM le Roi
Mohammed VI au propriétaire du
cheval vainqueur avant de poser
pour une photo-souvenir avec les
propriétaires des chevaux
vainqueurs.

With a certain delay
in respect to last year’s election and
verdict which took place during the
CHI-Geneva at Palexpo, the Jury of this
second edition of the « Horse of the
World Special Award » only pronounced on
the occasion of the « Mercedes-CSI
Zurich 2014 » at the Hallenstadion in
the Swiss banking capital.
Questioned about the
reasons for having thus displaced the
date of this announcement, Jamil
Boukarabila put it this way : « It is,
of course, with great regret on our part
that the horse show in Geneva was no
longer able to be the venue of this
announcement. We are obliged to follow
the change which indeniably puts, from
now on, the great horse show of Zurich
as one of the major events of the
international scene in the discipline,
in front of all the Swiss horse shows.
The engagement and visibility of the
very first sponsors at Zurich,
Mercedes-Benz for a long time, but also
Rolex until last year since associated
with the final of the World Show-Jumping
Cup, and so many others, also convinced
us to make this choice. Even so it is
necessary to point out that probably, in
order to remain in the Swiss Romande, we
would have opted for the LONGINE GLOBAL
CHAMPIONS TOUR of Jan Tops at Lausanne,
if i twas not held so late in the
season.
At this beginning of
2014, horse lovers, and enthusiasts of
Equidae in general, welcomed with
surprise but enthusiasm the announcement
of the result of this prize for the
second year awarded to an original
enterprise where Equidae are kings,
above all economics interests and the
recommendations of the usual circles
engaged in competitions at the highest
level. The Beni-Ammar Festival, but ther
also its courageous, innovative Moroccan
inhabitants in the spirit of their
enterprise are thus the winners of this
second « Horses of the World Special
Award ».

the prizes of the Mercedes
Classic-Longines FEI World Cup
(which crowned Toulago and his
rider Pius Schwizer, who again
entered the Top Ten) :
« Horses of the World has the
great Honour this year of
awarding its prize also, to all
the participants, contributors,
creators and visitors to the
Beni-Ammar Festival, and,
through themselves, to the
wonderful Moroccan people who
managed to reconcile Modernity
with the « poor parent » of
Grand Prix horses, doubtlessly
the people of today with most
deserving four-legged companions
of their ancestors. And all
this, in the framework of a
great cultural assembly, in a
small city on a mountain side,
that of Moulay Driss Zerhoune,
near to the imperial Moroccan
town of Meknès. This recognition
on the part of our media is thus
to reward the Mohammed Bellemou
cousins, choristers of the
