Catch
- Drivers
Jamil Boukarabila

A swiss citizen,
but racing with an italian licence, this exceptional driver
benefits from an unusually career, as he began with horse-riding
from his earliest childhood-(they say he was riding before he
was walking !!)- then he learnt harnessing until four-in-hand
with the world champion Auguste Dubey. He completed his own
training in many european trotting countries, and he was lucky
enough to meet and mix with such great masters who had an
influence on his perception of the horse and harness-racing:
Roger Baudron and Sergio Brighenti. From the first, he grasped
all about the subtelty in modern training of the standardbreds,
with an hardly imitable touch of art, and from the second he
learnt how to leave very quickly and be on the front from the
start on, concentrate the energy of his horses, and to crush the
strategies of his adversaries. As well as Sergio Brighenti- and
that's a trait of character- he has the talent for setting
systematically a record with the horses he is d riving. With his
artisti c temperament and as a man having character, Jamil
Boukarabila carries on with a remarkable career in many of the
european countries, from Spain to Finland, from Italy to
Romania, through Germany and France. Captain of the italian team
when the first italo-russian championship of the professional
drivers which was held in Moscow and Montecatini in 1995, Jamil
Boukarabila leaded his team to a double and historic victory.
Moreover, he raced for several among the most glorious stables
in Europe. In 1994, the drives of Stall Cicero owned by Charles H.
Grendel- consisting of Sea Cove and other 150 trotters- were
shared among Jamil Boukarabila and Jos Verbeeck. The
understanding and expertise of these two catch-drivers were so
great that many many records of european tracks were beaten
during this cooperation.
