Rapperswil (SG), Thursday, 17th March 2016, the Knie Circus witnessed one of the most important moments of the year : The Première of its 2016 tour. And none of the interveners had to fail in their entry into the ring or their contribution, whatever their task in the heart of this great family of the national swiss circus ; neither the 45 artists from 7 different countries, nor the faithful collaborators of the most loved Swiss institution !!

The theme of the 98th Knie Circus programme, while waiting for the celebration in two years of the Centenary of its existance, is , in this year 2016, « laughter » ; a theme naturally chosen to highlight this « King of clowns » who is David Larible. Among the spectators, the least sensible to the clowning appreciate however the attaching character and the great humanity which exhudes from each act by David Larible, even to the point of reserving him long ovations all through the show.

The prize awarded this year to Freddy Knie Jr is in recognition of his extraordinary career close to the horses, and it comes in the nick of time in this 2016 tour, for he succeeds once more in presenting equestrian acts of very great quality.

The « 2015 Horses of the World Special Award » awarded to Freddy Knie Jr is an engraved crystal plaque showing the image of Freddy Knie Jr with his magnificent grey stallion.

After a show opening as original as successful by the Bingo Circus Theatre and the clown David Larible, under the administration and production of Geraldine Knie who excels in it as a worthy heiress of the Knie dynasty, numerous equestrian acts are presented, of which the first is by Freddy Knie Jr and his wife Marie-José Knie. Their magnificent horses, now Iberian, now Arabian or Friesian, compete with elegance and beauty, in music and in the pitch of their trainers. But what strikes the most, is the complicity which emerges from each of the acts producing man and horse. It is to this privileged moment of intimacy that the public is admitted ; and there is probably the secret of the complete success of Freddy Knie Jr : he has managed to convey his talent and subtle comprehension of the Noblest conquest of man to his team of riders and trainers, and this talent is obvious to each one among the public, in this magic atmosphere under the greatest big top of Switzerland and under the multicoloured lights of the projectors.
