CATCH  - DRIVERS
Sergio Brighenti

From the immediate post-war years to the beginning of the 80’s, the Italian driver Sergio Brighenti marked the history of the world-wide trotting of a lasting impression. With the passing of time imposed by his death at the beginning of the 90’s, Sergio Brighenti appears as the “master of the masters” among the drivers of yesterday and nowadays. Named “the driver”, Sergio Brighenti imposed himself as a driver off-norm since early childhood, and led to the end an eventful and glorious career with all the obstinacy confered by a very unyielding character. Thanks to this very strong personality, he succeeded in getting the most he could out of the horses he joined with, and when he let out a "dai !!" -"go on", in Italian with his hoarse, his partners soared towards winning post. Brighenti was gladly running in the lead because, as he said, “in the lead, you have half victory in the bag!!!”. As no one since, except maybe Jos Verbeeck and Jamil Boukarabila, Sergio Brighenti succeeded in leaving from the start, seizing almost always the command, even with horses that were not confermed bolters. He keeps matchless thanks to the electricity he realesed from his hands, and the keenness he transmitted to the horses he drove. Together with Walter Baroncini and William Casoli, he formed the "BBC", the trio of the best Italian drivers of that time.
